Now, what about yourselves? What are your names? What are your hobbies?
First of all, I'd like to introduce my city to you. We are in autumn here, and it's been very cold these days. Punta Arenas is a very quiet city, though in summer there are lots of tourists mainly because of the beautiful places we have in our region, such as Torres del Paine. Have you heard about it? Many tourists are from your country. This is a small city, with about 150,000 people. The city has its roots among the population origin of the European colonists (Croatian and Spanish) that populated the area at mid-nineteenth century. Punta Arenas is the most prominent settlement on the Strait of Magellan and the capital of the "Magallanes y la Antártica Chilena" region, Chile. You should visit us if you've got the chance, you won't regret about it because it's a beautiful region.

Hi everyone! How are you?
ReplyDeleteWell, first of all, I´d like to introduce myself a little bit;
My name is Luis Rivas, I´m 20 years old, I´m a calm person that enjoy simple things, such as music, going out with my friends, taking pictures, playing sports, watching movies, etc, and as well as my classmates, that have already written in this blog, I´m studying, in third year now, to become someday a teacher of English.
It has been a little bit difficult so far, but entertaining at the same time, and well, if we are able to help each other and share info, (personal, educational, cultural, etc), I think that it´ll be a great experience for all of us, and of course, it´ll be fun to learn, not only English in my case, but Spanish in yours.
I know that in Illinois, the population is over 12.000.000 of people... That´s like having 80 times the amount of people of our city, Punta Arenas, so as you can imagine, we live in a small, but a very beautiful one at the same time.
But as I´m a curious person, I´d like you to tell me some things about your city, and about you as well so we can know each other.

ReplyDeleteWell,first of all, I'm 22 years old, and the thing that I like the most is to be with my friends and have fun with them, but I must say that here in Punta Arenas ,sometimes, you have to be very creative to have fun, mainly, because of the wheather, it's very cold almost all the time or rainy or windy!!!, but it is also good because the air is very fresh in here (very healthy) =).
And... What else... I like reggae,dancehall,and a little bit of hip-hop music, may be I share these tastes with some of you and I would like to know it ,and also whatever you can tell me about you guys.

Well I'm a happy boy, I enjoy a lot of my life. I love chocolates, they arethe best food ever invented, do you like it? do you have another kind of food that you likes the most?
I also like sports, especially football and soccer. My favorite football team is New England Patriots, they ROCK! Other kind of sport, actually sport entertaiment that I enjoy a lot is Wrestling, especially WWE; DX, batista, Undertaker are the best. do you enjoy, practice, watch any sport?

when I was your age I didn't know what to do with my life, I knew that I had to study something, so I started to think what could I do.. first I wanted to be a vet..mmm but then i discovered that i hate spiders so it couldn't be possible, then, I wanted to be a doctor, but then I discovered that i can't see blood...so, with the pass of the time I appreciated the meaning of being a teacher..I had good teachers in my student life, they were my model that I wanted to follow.
now, i would like to know more about you, what do you want to be when you grow up? which are your dreams? what do you want to do for living?

ReplyDeleteMy name is Carolina Hernández and I'm 20 years old. My birthday is in february 23th.
Well, my hobbies are playing the bass, singing and dancing. My daily activities are studying, going out with my boyfriend or friends, practising in playing the bass in the church with some young people, who play guitar and drums, and sleeping.
Besides, I'm a very quiet and calm person, I'm happy with my life even when sometimes I have passed through difficult situations.
When I was younger I didn't know what to study in the university, but then I figured out that I have to be a teacher. I wanted to study especial education to work with people with dissabilities, but this carreer is not in my city. Anyway, I love english, so, I'm glad to study this.
About my city I think the most important thing to talk is the isolation of Punta Arenas in comparison with the rest of the country because of the distance between this and the other cities. In any case, this is a beautiful city but it's hard to enjoy in view of the fact that the climate here is very cold and windy, and the day is to short, especially in winter.
Well, I wanted to know, do you like studying?why?, which things or aspects would you change in your country's system education?which subjects do you like most? what are your favorite activities?

ReplyDeleteMy name is Arnoldo, I'm 22 years old and my birthday is in July 2nd.
My first main hobby is music, specially rock, electronic, heavy metal and experimental styles in general. I play the piano/keyboard and recently the guitar, for about 1 year ago. I have also composed my own music, mainly experimental and avant-garde stuff, in fact time ago I posted my music on the internet (on MySpace), but I haven't had time to manage it and make myself more known, so now I'm focusing on that.
My other main hobby are videogames, console and computer ones. I like to play classic old games, like First person shooters such as Doom and Duke Nukem 3D, and also graphical adventures like Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle (well, I don't know if you kids have listened or played these games, since they're a bit old for you, hehe I know!).
Now talking about my purpose in life, well, first I want to be an english teacher, also if I have the opportunity I want to travel abroad, form a family, and the most important thing, be happy.
Well, I hope to receive answers from you, and if any of you like some of the musical styles that I like, maybe share common bands or information, or if you like videogames also what is your favourite one, or anything you like to tell me!

ReplyDeleteI'm Camila Séguy Vargas...What can I tell you about me...I'm 21 years old, I was born the 31st of October 1987 in Punta Arenas, Chile.
One of my favorite hobbies is playing soccer, it's my passsion, I practice this sport since I was around 5 years old, I also love listening to music and I like lots of different kind of music, I mean from Lady Gaga to reggae music for example, so my taste in music is very extended.
As you may know I'm also studying to become an English teacher some day,to be honest it isn't exactly what I've always wanted to study but it complements my future studies =)
Today I'm feeling terrible, I'm actually sick in bed so what else...I'm a big fan of football, especially Colo- Colo (the best football team of Chile)but I also like Barcelona football team.

ReplyDeleteMy name is Daniel Oyarzo, I'm an English student as well. Let me tell you some things about me first.
I'm 21 years old, borned and raised here in Punta Arenas. I've been involved with english since I was like 6, but really liked it when I was 11. At that age I went to your country to visit my uncle who was studying over there. I visited different states there such as Indianda, Kentucky, Ohio and Illinois.
I have different hobbies. First of all I like music. I can't play any instrument but I love listening to it. My favorite instruments are guitar and sax.
One of my other hobbies is sport. I play basketball in a team here and play some soccer as well, but just for fun.
Lastly I love cars, I'm planning to buy one in a few more months, so it will be my first car :D.
In a completely different subject, a couple of friends and I are planning to go and work this summer in the US. So if everything goes well we'll be there in december.
I hope you could write something back and keep in touch, this is a great oportunity for us to communicate with foreign people, so if you have any question feel free to ask at any time and my partners and I will be glad to answer them.
